Many people have recently been told to worry about plastic bottles leaching a chemical into their water. We have never noticed a problem with this. You can store water almost indefinetly if you keep the bottles out of sunlight, direct or indirect, and also off of a concrete surface. Phthalates  have recently been in the news causing concern in regard to baby bottles. The truth is Phthalates are in many, many different products, even things as crucial as blood bags and flexible feeding tubes. A  blue ribbon panel headed by our former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop found: "Consumers can be fonfident that (phthlate containing) toys and medical devices are safe"
